A Huge Success: Opening Day at the Pearl District Culinary Farmers Market!

A Chef’s Market shaped by how we cook, host, and gather — now open every Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Pearl District Culinary Farmers Market made a triumphant debut on June 7, drawing neighbors, visitors, chefs, artisans, and local businesses together for an unforgettable morning of food, discovery, and community. The inaugural market exceeded every expectation, and Portland is invited back every Sunday through September 27.

Located on NW 13th Avenue between Everett and Glisan streets, the Pearl District Culinary Farmers Market is a Chef’s Market, a reimagined farmers market centered on the relationships between restaurants and farmers, offering a window into how Portland cooks, hosts, and gathers today.

Launching at the height of Oregon berry season, the market brings together farmers, producers, culinary artisans, chefs, and restaurants in an open-air setting designed for discovery. Seasonal ingredients, prepared foods, and pantry staples sit alongside chef appearances, culinary conversations, and opportunities to meet the people behind Oregon’s vibrant food culture.

Visitors can enjoy breakfast bites, sip a glass of wine, listen to live music from Portland favorite, Tahirah Memory, and shop from a curated collection of local producers: aMYLK, Pablo Munoz Farms, and Fokattia Artisanal Baking. Participating Pearl District restaurants, including Arden, help create a direct connection between the region’s farms and some of Portland’s most celebrated kitchens.

The market is designed to be experienced as part of a day in the Pearl. Visitors are encouraged to wander beyond the market stalls to explore the neighborhood’s galleries, shops, restaurants, and public spaces, celebrating the unique character that has made the Pearl District one of Portland’s most beloved destinations.

“At its core, this market is a celebration of Oregon’s culinary community,” said Kimiko Matsuda, executive producer of the Pearl District Culinary Farmers Market. “We wanted to create a place where people can discover something new, connect with the people behind their food, and be inspired by the creativity and hospitality that define Oregon’s vibrant food culture.”

The market was developed in collaboration with local culinary leaders, including Peter Platt, owner of Andina, and is one of the first public initiatives to emerge from Re-Ignite the Pearl, a community-led effort of the Pearl District Neighborhood Association focused on celebrating the district through experiences, partnerships, and placemaking.

“The inaugural Pearl District Culinary Market exceeded every expectation—bringing neighbors, visitors, chefs, artisans, and local businesses together to celebrate the very best of Portland. This is more than a market; it’s a reflection of the energy, creativity, and community spirit that make the Pearl District special. Come join us Sundays 10–2 thru September 27.”— Bruce Studer, President, Pearl District Neighborhood Association & Re-Ignite the Pearl
