Supporting Our Community: Introducing the PDNA Window Repair Grant

At the heart of the Pearl District lies a commitment to community, resilience, and support for local businesses. In line with this ethos, the Pearl District Neighborhood Association (PDNA) is proud to announce the launch of the PDNA Window Repair Grant. This pilot program aims to provide assistance to businesses that have experienced the unfortunate setback of broken windows, offering up to $500 in reimbursement for eligible repairs.

The PDNA Window Repair Grant, which runs from February 24th to December 24th, or until 10 grants are provided, underscores our dedication to fostering a vibrant and thriving business environment in the Pearl neighborhood. As funds are limited, applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, emphasizing the urgency of this initiative.

Eligibility for the grant extends to local small businesses occupying a ground-floor storefront, whether as owners or tenants, as well as nonprofit organizations located in an occupied ground-floor storefront. To ensure compliance, businesses must hold a current City of Portland business license and fulfill all paperwork requirements outlined in the application process.

The scope of eligible repairs encompasses window replacement or repair for physical damage incurred within 6 months of the application date to the exterior ground floor storefront of a building. This includes window replacements or repairs for doors, with grants issued on a reimbursement basis. PDNA will cover deductibles up to $500 if the repairs were not covered by insurance, provided proper documentation is submitted.

To request payment, property owners are required to submit a completed application along with a W9 for the business, current business license, insurance application and payment information, invoice for the repair or replacement, and proof of payment. These measures ensure transparency and accountability throughout the process.

While the PDNA Window Repair Grant aims to support businesses facing the financial strain of window repairs, certain entities are ineligible for participation. These include property owners who do not operate a small business occupying a ground floor storefront, businesses located in non-commercially zoned spaces, property management companies, and unlicensed properties.

As we navigate the challenges posed by unforeseen circumstances, such as broken windows, the PDNA remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering and uplifting our local business community. Through initiatives like the Window Repair Grant, we demonstrate the strength of our solidarity and collective resilience.
