TriMet’s Fareless Rail Zone is ended September 1, but TriMet’s Honored Citizen Downtown Bus Pass will now be extended to include rail. Honored Citizens (65+, Medicare, disabled) who live within the Fareless boundaries can still obtain this low-cost pass ($10 for 2 years) that will be valid for all buses, MAX, and Streetcar travel in the former Fareless Zone west of the Willamette River (I-405 to the Willamette to NW Irving). This area includes Downtown Portland, most of Old Town Chinatown, and part of the Pearl District.

The Honored Citizen Downtown Pass can be purchased at the TriMet ticket office in Pioneer Courthouse Square, with proof of Honored Citizen status (proof of age, Medicare card, or Honored Citizen card) and proof of residence in the Free Rail Zone (photo ID or utility statement).

Please visit TriMet’s website for more information regarding the new fares and the discount pass.
