Transportation in the Pearl District
You have plenty of options for getting where you’re going. The Pearl District is well known for its transportation options.
The Portland Streetcar is your ticket to NW 23rd, Pearl District and downtown shopping, visiting OMSI and the Portland State University campus. The streetcar requires fare at all times, and can be purchased via a station platform with a credit card. Ticket machines on board accept cash only ($1.00 or $5.00 denominations.) Riders can now download a free mobile ticketing app from the Apple and Google app stores. The app can be found by searching for PDX Streetcar. The Max requires fare at all times, and can be purchased via a station platform with a credit card or cash. There is no on-board ticket machine and tickets must be validated prior to boarding the light rail. The closest stops from The Pearl District are Old Town/Chinatown for the Green and Yellow Max Lines (on 5th and 6th Ave.) or on the Transit Mall near the Union Rail Station. Ride the Max to downtown, the Portland State University campus, or to the Lloyd Center across the river. Go to TriMet for more information.
Stop in at almost any retailer in the neighborhood and ask for a free walking map of the district. The map includes restaurants, shops, galleries and more.
