graffitiContractors and volunteers will join forces to remove graffiti in the Pearl District. This event will be attended by Portland Commissioner Amanda Fritz, NW Crime Prevention Coordinator Frank Silva, and Graffiti Abatement Coordinator Marcia Dennis.

This is our second graffiti cleanup event which will be a “Neighborhood-Wide Graffiti Clean Up” on Saturday, July 10th @ 08:30 am at Peet’s Coffee (1114 NW Couch St.). We hope to be experienced pro’s for this event, which will be supported by the City of Portland and Commissioner Amanda Fritz. Again, we will “party” after at Noodles & Co. with free lunch for our volunteers.

Will you help us make the change? We’d love to hear from you.

During the last year, many of our Pearl District neighbors have reported their concern about the escalation of graffiti incidents in our neighborhood. In response, the Pearl District Neighborhood Association’s Livability Committee is preparing to launch a special project: Graffiti Abatement. This has not been done previously in the Pearl. Our goal is to “Change the Face of the Pearl”.

In order to accomplish this task, our first step is to form a volunteer task force. So we are contacting you to ask you if you will help us by becoming a “Graffiti Buster” team member! Training and all materials will be provided. We have a “Graffiti Buster” vest ready just for you. And as always in our ‘hood, we welcome our citizen-children along with their parents.

Our first graffiti abatement “practice event” is slated for Sunday, June 13th, 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. There will be an “after party” lunch and raffle for all volunteers at Rogue Ale.

The second event will be a “Neighborhood-Wide Graffiti Clean Up” on Saturday, July 10th @ 9:00 a.m. We hope to be experienced pro’s for this event, which will be supported by the City of Portland and Commissioner Amanda Fritz. Again, we will “party” after.

Will you help us make the change? We’d love to hear from you, either by email or phone.

Sincerely,

Jan Valentine
