The Pearl District Neighborhood Association Executive Committee will meet Aug. 30 2010 at 4:00 pm, at 2257 NW Raleigh.

The agenda will include regular business.

The committee will then enter Executive Session for preliminary review of a grievance filed by Sheila McMahon et al.

The Executive Session is closed to anyone other than the Executive Committee members, staff and the press. Neighborhood members and the public (including the individuals who filed the grievance) are not permitted to attend this preliminary meeting, which is governed by the Pearl District Bylaws (Article VIII, 8.2) and ONI Standards for Neighborhood Associations &c (Section VII B. and Section VIII D. 2, f.)

Results of the session will be publically available within three business days of the meeting, and will be forwarded to the Pearl District Neighborhood Association Board of Directors for consideration at its September 9th regular meeting.

Please reconsider the location of the loo. With all the planning that went into the aesthetics of Jamieson Park, to place the loo at a central focal point of the park is a huge mistake. I vote for a temporary porta potty locked at night located by the electrical box near the corner of Johnson & 10th–placed among trees to block view from the street and neighbors. It could be funded using homeowner association fees and managed by MultiServices. It would be placed there at the beginning of the season when the water is running and removed at the end of the season. This is not a perfect solution but better than a permanent eyesore. I support the park for visitors and locals, I support helping the homeless have a place to go to the bathroom 24/7–there will soon be a resource center close by. As a pragmatic resident paying high taxes and high HOA fees, which helps to support the local parks and neighborhood, I too have some rights when it comes to this loo.
