By Lanai Hoyt, Pearl District Neighborhood Association Livability Committee
The Livability Committee has been shaking things up (for the better) in the Pearl District lately and in November we set our goals for 2012. One of our most important objectives is to continue Emergency Preparedness Planning. Our first plan of attack for 2012 is to hold bi-monthly round table discussions with experts and interested parties from our community. So take note PearlDistrict condo owners, apartment dwellers, businesses, schools, etc., because you’re all invited! Some of the experts we plan to glean from include Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET), structural engineers, and crime prevention experts, just to name a few. Emergency Preparedness Planning is a vital endeavor involving many fields of discipline and it is entirely achievable for us as a community to be well prepared for a possible major event. Please get involved in the safety of our community by saving the date of January 26, 2012 and joining our first round table discussion! Contact Jan Valentine at jan.grammy@gmail.com or at (503) 715-2822 for more information, and continue to watch for the dates of our future discussions, to be published soon. Let’s love our neighbors, and ourselves!
